The donkey kick is a jump where the back leg extends sharply backward, pushing the tail of the board out and up — like a donkey's back kick. It creates a dramatic, angular board position in the air and is one of the most visually striking basic freestyle jump moves. Requires good core strength and body awareness.
Initiate the kick from peak jump height — don't kick on the way up or you'll lose height
The front leg provides the counter-movement — as the back leg extends, the front leg stays compact
Keep the wing stable overhead during the kick — don't let it move as your body position changes
Bring the back leg back before landing — arriving with the leg extended crashes you immediately
