Wingfoil · Damien LeRoy
The frontside airjibe means taking off, rotating 180° in the air (changing direction), and landing on the new tack — all without touching the water mid-manoeuvre. It combines jump technique with the rotation and wing flip of a jibe, all compressed into a few seconds of airtime. Landing a clean airjibe requires precise timing of the wing flip and foot switch while airborne.
The rotation starts immediately at takeoff — initiate the 180° as you leave the water
The wing flip happens in the middle of the rotation — timed to your body reaching the halfway point
Land on the new tack with the wing already powered — coming down unpowered means an immediate crash
Start with small airjibes (low height) and build up — the timing is the same regardless of height
