Cookie Policy

Effective date: 31 March 2026 · Version 1.0

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember information about your visit, such as whether you are logged in, your preferences, or how you navigated the site.

Similar technologies such as local storage and session storage serve a comparable purpose and are covered by this policy. We refer to all of these collectively as "cookies".

2. Cookies We Use

Essential cookies

These cookies are necessary for the platform to function. Without them, you cannot log in or use core features. They include:

  • Authentication tokens — stored by Supabase to keep you logged in across page loads
  • Session identifiers — used to maintain your session securely

Essential cookies cannot be disabled without breaking the platform. They are set only when you interact with features that require them (e.g. signing in).

Preference cookies

These cookies remember choices you have made on the platform, such as map zoom level or filter settings. They improve your experience but are not required for basic functionality.

Analytics cookies

We may use analytics tools to understand how visitors use the platform — for example, which pages are visited most or where users encounter errors. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.

We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

3. Third-Party Cookies

Supabase

We use Supabase for authentication and database services. Supabase sets authentication-related cookies that are necessary for login functionality. See the Supabase Privacy Policy for details.

Maps (OpenStreetMap)

Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap tile servers. These requests may set cookies or store data in your browser cache. OpenStreetMap is a non-commercial, open-data project. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.

Embedded content

Some spot pages may display embedded webcam streams or weather widgets from third-party providers (e.g. Windy, Windguru). These providers may set their own cookies when their content is loaded. We recommend reviewing their respective privacy policies.

4. Managing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View all cookies currently stored
  • Block cookies from specific websites
  • Delete all cookies when you close your browser
  • Block third-party cookies

Please note that disabling cookies may affect your ability to use Gusty. In particular, blocking essential cookies will prevent you from staying logged in.
