Wingfoil · Damien LeRoy
Getting airborne is the goal of every advanced rider's session. Flatwater jumps use chop or a small kicker to get off the water — you build speed, power the wing overhead, and use the combined lift to get air. Your first jump doesn't need to be huge; it needs to be controlled enough to land safely.
Build maximum speed on a beam reach before the jump — speed is what gets you air
As you hit the kicker or chop, power the wing hard overhead and pull your knees up
Stay compact in the air — arms in, knees up, look forward
Land with bent knees and weight slightly forward — a stiff landing crashes the foil immediately
