Wingfoil · Duotone Wing Academy
The backloop is a backward somersault — you throw your head back and rotate backwards while airborne. It's one of the most committed moves in wingfoiling because the backward rotation is counterintuitive; your instinct is to look forward. Once you're over the mental block the backloop is actually accessible with enough airtime.
Look up and back immediately at takeoff — this initiates the rotation; hesitating kills it
Keep the wing overhead and slightly forward during the rotation — it needs to be there for the landing
The rotation speed is controlled by how tight you tuck — tighter tuck = faster spin
Land slightly back on the board — backloops tend to have a forward pitch on landing that you need to counterbalance
