Wingfoiling in Sotavento Beach
A beach several kilometres long south of Costa Calma, home of a windsurf World Cup every summer. The trade wind comes over the low isthmus at La Pared and arrives here side offshore from the left, gusty and often the strongest on the island in summer. Wingfoil happens on the open sea in front of the beach.

“The lagoon behind the sandbank fills for a few hours around high tide, but it is mostly less than a metre deep, too shallow for a foil. You simply ride outside the lagoon, on the open sea in front of the beach. The wind is side offshore: beginners ride with a school that has a boat or jet ski on the water, and without a school you should only go out when you can go upwind without effort. During the season the centres on the beach keep a jet ski ready to pick wingers up, do not count on it outside their opening hours. During events in July the beach fills up fast, so get there early.”
