Wingfoil spot Lanzarote Costa Tequise in Teguise, Spain

Costa Teguise is one of Lanzarote's most reliable wind destinations, set on the island's northeastern coast where the Atlantic trade winds blow with remarkable consistency. The spot centres around Las Cucharas beach, a sheltered bay with flat to choppy water that's ideal for wingfoiling at all levels. The shallow lagoon near the shore gives beginners a safe area to find their feet, while further out the chop builds and more experienced riders can work on jumps and freestyle moves. Wind arrives from the north-northeast almost every day between spring and autumn, typically building through the morning and peaking in the afternoon at 15–25 knots.

Local tips

The wind is strongest and most consistent from May through September. This is peak season and the beach gets busy. Watch out for swimmers near the shore in the morning before the wind fills in.
