Wingfoiling in Flag Beach
Just south of Corralejo along the dunes, Flag Beach is the busiest wind beach in the north of Fuerteventura. In northeast wind it is side onshore from the left, in north wind side shore, with chop and small waves breaking over the outer reefs. In summer it typically blows 15 to 25 knots, with stronger days in between. A step up from Corralejo Bay: you should be able to ride upwind before you come here.

“There is a large rocky slab in the middle of the beach: launch and land in the sandy channels the schools mark with flags, and check the zones before you rig because they change with the conditions. Rocks sit closer to the surface at low tide. With northwest wind it gets more side offshore, especially in the morning. Afternoons are usually the windiest. The schools run a rescue boat, which you pay for if you need it. Do not ride towards Lobos, the current in the channel is strong. The car park along the dune road fills up by mid morning in July and August, and there is a restaurant at the beach.”
