Famara Beach
Famara, Lanzarote, Spain

Famara is wild, raw, and seriously fun when it turns on. Best with NNW to NNE wind, conditions usually come with proper swell lines rolling through the bay. Launch from the harbour when the surf gets bigger. Expect long rides, open ocean energy, and occasionally fickle winds that keep you on your toes. This one is for experienced riders, but absolutely worth the full mission when conditions align.
Best months: March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October
Wind directions: N, NW, NE
Water: Waves
Bottom: Sand
Sports: Wingfoil
Local tips
When swell is pumping, launch from the small harbour at the south end rather than the beach itself. Current runs south along the coast so keep your upwind position. Wind can be gusty with the cliffs above the village affecting the flow, so give yourself more height than you think you need. The village of Famara has a couple of bars but facilities are limited. A 4WD helps for getting to the beach in soft sand.
