Rhodes – Fanes Beach
Fanes, Rhodes, Greece

Quieter than Theologos and with a bigger shallow area, Fanes is the beach that beginners and kiters who want space come to. The northwest Meltemi arrives side shore at a touch lighter than further north, 12 to 20 knots, which makes it manageable for people still figuring out foiling. The 500 metre sandy beach gives room to drift and recover. A solid all-round spot on the west coast of Rhodes.
Best months: June, July, August, September
Wind directions: NW
Water: Flat, Chop
Bottom: Sand, Sand
Sports: Wingfoil, Kitesurf
Local tips
Arrive mid morning to avoid the crowds. Wind picks up from around noon. The flat shallow area stretches well north of the main beach, giving beginners room to practice far from swimmers. Rental options from the Delfini Hotel site are available in season. Suitable for anyone building confidence in 12 to 20 knot Meltemi conditions.
