One of the most discussed beginner spots in Europe and fully earning the reputation. A shallow sandy bay with waist-deep water stretching 250 metres from shore, the Meltemi arrives from the north at 15 to 25 knots and creates three zones in one bay. Flat in the north, bump and jump in the centre, waves in the south. Two schools on site, rescue boat always on standby. May through October.

Local tips
The shallow sandy zone stays waist deep across much of the bay, making it very safe for beginners. Two schools on site cover all levels and a rescue boat is always on standby. Keros Blue Hotel is five minutes walk with a pool and restaurant. Book ahead in July and August.
