The east coast of Crete is the part most visitors never reach, and Kouremenos is one of its best uncovered gems. Northwest to north Meltemi runs at 20 to 35 knots from June through September, consistently and strong. Flat to chop inshore with waves further out. Fewer crowds than the western beaches, proper wind, and a raw coastal feel. A real find for riders who like their sessions without an audience.

Remote by Crete standards, Kouremenos is around 70 kilometres east of Heraklion near Palekastro. The road is fine but the drive is long. Wind is reliable and strong, 20 to 35 knots in season. A few tavernas nearby but no beach resort infrastructure. Gone Surfing Crete operates from the beach in season. Arrive self-sufficient.
