Plage du Jaï is a long sandy beach on the Étang de Berre, a huge inland sea near Marseille. The Mistral funnels strongly across this open water, creating reliable flat-water sessions with a stunning backdrop of Provençal hills. The proximity to Marseille makes it popular with local riders.
“The Étang de Berre is an industrial lagoon (oil refinery nearby) but the water quality at Jaï is monitored and generally fine. The beach has good facilities. Traffic on the N568 can be heavy — allow extra time on weekends.”
