Lac du Bourget

Lac du Bourget is the largest natural lake in France, situated in the Savoie between Chambéry and Aix-les-Bains. The Traverse — a local westerly — blows two to three times per week, typically from 17:00 to 21:00, producing good chop across the open water. An active community of around 80 local kiters calls this lake home.

Local tips
Launch from Plage d'Aix / Grand Port in Aix-les-Bains, or from Tresserve on the east shore for windsurf and wing. The Traverse arrives late afternoon — plan sessions from 16:00. The Kite Club du Lac du Bourget can advise on conditions.
