Jullouville is the flagship kite and wingfoil beach of the Baie du Mont Saint Michel, a four kilometre stretch of sand near Granville with bay views. West to northwest wind gives steady side onshore sessions, while the huge tidal range reshapes the water between tides, flat and shallow at low water, choppier near high tide. Wide, uncrowded and beginner friendly, the beach also hosts stages of the French Kitesurf and Wingfoil Championships each autumn.
“Time your session around the rising or falling tide rather than the tide height itself, since water recedes for kilometres at low water and gets choppy near high tide. Fifty Kite runs lessons and gear here, and parking, restrooms and an SNSM lifeguard station sit right by the beach. Restaurants and shops are a short walk away, with good options near the old port. Several campsites in town suit families staying longer.”
