Wingfoil · Damien LeRoy
Toeside riding means pressing your toes into the edge of the board instead of your heels. It opens up the opposite direction of travel and is essential for riding on both tacks. At first it feels unstable and unnatural — you're essentially riding backwards relative to your natural heelside stance — but it becomes comfortable with practice.
Start by transitioning from heelside to toeside while staying in flat water before attempting it on foil
Toeside requires more ankle and calf engagement — keep your weight balanced over the balls of your feet
The wing position shifts: keep it relatively forward to maintain power and balance while toeside
Don't rush — staying in toeside position for longer periods trains the body faster than quick transitions
