Wingfoil · Damien LeRoy
In a duck jibe, instead of doing a standard wing flip during the turn, you pass the wing under your leading arm in a 'duck' motion. This keeps the wing closer to neutral throughout the turn and allows a much smoother, more connected jibe arc. It looks elegant when done well and is faster than a regular jibe.
The duck motion happens as you pass through the bottom of the jibe arc — not before, not after
Let the front hand release the wing as you duck, then grab the new front handle on the other side
Keep the wing low and compact during the duck — a wide, high wing catches too much wind and pulls you off balance
Practice the duck motion slowly on land first; the arm movement needs to be very deliberate
