Wingfoil spot Daymer Bay in Daymer Bay, Rock, Cornwall, United Kingdom

Daymer Bay sits on Cornwall's north coast, tucked inside the Camel Estuary where tide rules everything. North and northwest winds bring clean conditions across a shallow sandy flat, great for winging at any level. Wade out past the shallows before dropping your foil. The sweet spot is mid to high tide; the tidal rip at mid tide will catch you off guard. Summer brings a kiting curfew, so check before you go.

Best months: March, April, May, June, September, October, November

Wind directions: N, NW, SW, S

Water: Flat, Chop

Bottom: Sand

Sports: Wingfoil, Kitesurf

Local tips

Tide timing is everything here. Launch at mid to high water; the shallows make foiling at low tide a drag. Best winds come from the north and northwest. Southerlies push you seaward and easterlies create nasty turbulence, so avoid both. In July and August there is a kiting ban between 10am and 6pm; check current rules before you go. Rock village nearby has parking, toilets and a café.
