Lac de Joux sits at 1004 m altitude in the Vallée de Joux, Vaud, making it one of Switzerland's highest navigable lakes. The Bise NE is the dominant wind — strong and reliable — with SW as an alternative. Navigation is restricted to the two ends of the lake; the ornithologically protected central section is off-limits.

Local tips
The Altitude 1004 watersport centre at Les Bioux is the main hub for all disciplines. Le Pont at the opposite end works in other wind directions. Navigation in the protected central zone is forbidden. Altitude means cold conditions even in summer — dress accordingly.
