Zoetermeerse Plas is a large recreational lake on the edge of Zoetermeer, a short drive from The Hague and one of the most accessible wingfoil and windsurf lakes in Zuid Holland. West and east wind give the cleanest runs, while southwest and northwest wind arrive gusty over the surrounding houses and trees. The lake was dug for sand extraction, so it stays deep almost everywhere, which makes it excellent foiling water.
“Park right by the water on the south shore and rig on the grass beside the beach. A surf shop and windsurf school sit directly at the lake and run lessons and rental from May into early October, so gear is easy to arrange. The shoreline shallows for a few metres before dropping away, so keep an eye on your foil during the entry and exit. Afternoon thermals often add a knot or two on warm days.”
