Zevenhuizerplas lies between Rotterdam Nesselande and the Zuidplas, and it is the home water of the Rotterdam wind sports crowd. Dug for sand extraction, the lake runs deep across its whole width, which makes it close to perfect foiling water with no fin worries. Southwest and south wind sweep the long axis of the lake and give the best sessions, and a local club keeps wingfoilers and windsurfers organised here.
“Southwest is the classic direction and gives the longest runs across the lake. Park and rig on the east or south side, either near the Euro Funcenter or along the Wollefoppenweg, where there is grass at the water and easy entries. Housing keeps creeping toward the shore, so respect the swimming zones at Nesselande beach and launch away from the crowds. The lake is deep everywhere, so this is one of the safest places in the region to learn foiling.”
