Vlieland's surfzone sits just west of the Badhuys beach bar, with the remote North Sea island atmosphere cranking up the vibe on every session. South-West winds and ebb tide deliver clean runs along a wide sandy beach. Watch for a few groynes that disappear at high tide and can catch the unwary. A North-Easterly wind can also bring some good stuff! The Wadden side of the island is completely off limits. Pack supplies as Vlieland has no cars.
“A few groynes are invisible at high tide so scout the launch area first. The Wadden side of the island is a strict no go zone for kitesurfing. No cars are allowed on Vlieland so plan your gear transport carefully.”
