Terneuzen, Westerschelde, Netherlands
The Put van Terneuzen is a small beach on the Westerschelde at the Terneuzen waterfront, right next to one of the busiest shipping lanes in the Netherlands. It works in north, northeast, east and northwest wind. The water is shallow near the beach with short chop, while the tidal current further out is strong. The town is close by, so food, toilets and showers are within walking distance.
“Launch from the small beach at the waterfront near Waterfront 204. At high tide the beach can disappear completely and the only way in or out is over slippery stone dike cladding, so plan around low water. Kiting follows rules agreed with Rijkswaterstaat: no session in offshore wind of 8 Bft or more or visibility under 2000 m, never hinder shipping, stay inside the marked boundaries and carry a KNRM sticker on your board.”
