Makkum
Makkum, Friesland, Netherlands

Makkum lines the western edge of Frisian IJsselmeer, where prevailing southwest and westerly winds sweep across open water without obstruction. The wide sandy shoreline gives plenty of launch space, and the shallow flat water suits every level from beginners to advanced riders. No tides on this inland lake keep conditions predictable. The historic Makkum harbour is just a short walk away for food and coffee after a session. One of the IJsselmeer's most dependable spots.
