The Langeraarse Plassen are three linked lakes in the green heart of Zuid Holland, and Surfclub Ter Aar sits on the middle one. The club has its own grass field straight at the water and a car park big enough for around fifty surfers with all their gear. Depth runs over two metres across most of the lake, so foiling is comfortable, and the club runs lessons, free sailing and small competitions all season.
“Wind anywhere between northwest and southeast works here. East and northeast turn offshore and make the way back hard, so leave those to strong riders. Southwest is the beginner friendly direction because you always have a way home. Rig on the club grass right at the water and use the club parking next door. Toilets and showers are on site. The lake is over two metres deep in most places, so standing up is not an option.”
