Hoek van Holland is not for the faint-hearted. The Maas port breakwater creates a unique wave interaction that, with SW wind, stacks up proper sets in surprisingly clean lines. The same structure that creates good surf also means dealing with serious currents and significant wave height. The local WSHVH club has an active downwinder community with real knowledge of the daily tidal tricks. Come prepared.
“Black and yellow flag = no kiting. SW can be gusty near the breakwater. WSHVH club is the best local contact. Intermediate and advanced-only, big waves and strong currents.”
