Enkhuizen, IJsselmeer, Netherlands
Enkhuizen is a small beach on the IJsselmeer on the north side of town, along the Kooizandweg near the Zuiderzee Museum. Northeast wind blows onshore and quickly builds bump and jump chop, while southeast and east give smoother water for beginners and intermediates. The standing area reaches about 300 metres out over a sandy bottom. There is a lawn for rigging and the old town and harbours are within walking distance.
“Kitesurfing is banned from 1 September 2026 to 30 April 2027 because of construction work, and in normal years kiting is only allowed in winter, from October to March, so check the NKV page before you bring a kite. The launch area is small with trees nearby. On sunny swimming days enforcement is strict. Windsurfers rig on the lawn; long slalom fins sometimes mean walking out a bit. Read the signs, the rules change often.”
