De Strook

De Strook, Loosdrechtse Plassen, Netherlands

About this spot

De Strook is the swimming beach on the fifth lake of the Loosdrechtse Plassen at Breukeleveen, and the natural gathering point for wingfoilers on this water. Six hectares of lawn and sandy beach give room to rig, and the fifth lake is the most open of the group, so it builds real chop when it blows. Riders who want flatter water simply cross to one of the sheltered zones behind the many reed islands.

Local tips

The fifth lake has a reputation for being rough, which is exactly what makes De Strook fun once you can handle chop. Southwest through north are the reliable directions. Rig on the lawn, walk in over the sloping sand and stay clear of the roped swimming zone. If the chop gets too much, the Loosdrechtse Plassen have plenty of sheltered corners a short reach away. A kiosk and restaurant at the beach keep the after session sorted.
