Cadzand Bad, Noordzee, Netherlands
Cadzand Bad West sits on the North Sea beach between Cadzand Bad and the Zwin nature reserve, a few hundred metres from the Belgian border. It works in north, northwest, west and southwest wind, which blows onshore or side onshore here. The water gets deep quickly, with chop on most days and proper waves in a strong westerly. A wide sandy beach gives kiters plenty of room to launch and land.
“Park at the Zwin visitor centre parking on Gerrit van Hoekestraat in Retranchement and walk a couple of minutes to the beach near beach pavilion De Zeemeeuw, where Cadzand Sports gives kite lessons. Kiting, surfing and sailing are only allowed in the designated zones; check the signs at the dune crossing. Rows of poles stand in the water and are hard to see at high tide. Watch for sharp groynes with mussels.”
