Wingfoil spot Lakey Peak in Hu'u, Indonesia

Lakey Peak is a world class reef break just south of Lakey Beach on Sumbawa where the southeast trade winds combine with Indian Ocean swell to produce powerful left and right peaks. The reef is shallow and the lip heavy, putting this spot squarely in expert territory for wave wingfoil. Dry season from May to October stacks consistent swell and reliable cross to cross onshore wind, drawing a small international crew of advanced riders each year.

Local tips

Respect the local surf line up: priority goes to surfers and longboarders who have ridden here for decades. Wind picks up from late morning so most wave wing sessions run after the dawn surf crowd has thinned. The channel between Peak and Periscope to the south is the safe exit for pumping back out. Reef is unforgiving at low tide so plan sessions around the mid to high water window. Booties mandatory.
