Walchensee sits at 802 m altitude in the Karwendel mountains south of Munich. A reliable thermal N/NW wind builds around midday at 3–4 Bft, and the deep, clear blue lake is one of Bavaria's most scenic. Windsurf and wing launch from Strandcafe Bucherer; kite from the designated Sachenbach zone.

Local tips
Kiting is only permitted at Sachenbach/Zwergerinsel — do not launch from Bucherer beach. Best seasons are spring and autumn when the thermal is most consistent. The lake road can be busy at weekends — arrive before 10:00.
