Cabarete is the Caribbean's wind capital. The bay faces NE and catches the trade winds perfectly. Consistent thermal reinforcement means it almost never fails to deliver. December - April there are more waves but a bit less wind. Other months have more wind (June - August most wind, of up to 30 knots), but tend to have a bit less waves.
“The reef break to the east is for experienced riders only. Flat-water beginners should stay in the bay near the schools. Vibrant nightlife and great food on the beach strip. There is a river lagoon right of Cabarete, worth visiting! Playa Grande even further might also be worth visiting. ”
