About this spot
Zeebrugge beach lies west of the port, along the Zeedijk of the Strandwijk. Icarus Surf en Kitesurfclub at Zeedijk 50 is the base, with a bar and a terrace that looks out over the water. The long harbour mole to the east takes the waves out of northeasterly winds, so the spot works best from southwest to northwest with chop and small waves. The current is stronger here than at the sheltered spots further down the coast, especially around high tide.

“Start from the Icarus club zone with a day membership that includes insurance. Stay well away from the harbour entrance, the shipping lane is busy. In summer the guarded bathing zone is closed to wings and kites during lifeguard hours. Parking is plentiful on the Zeedijk but it is a walk to the water.”
