Westende Bad lies in the municipality of Middelkerke, between Nieuwpoort and the Middelkerke seafront. The launch is at Beachclub De Kwinte on the Sint Laureins beach, run by Surfclub Westende Nieuwpoort, which offers kitesurf, windsurf and surf lessons. The North Sea gives chop and small waves, with groynes on this part of the coast. SW, W, NW, N and NE winds are usable, while southerly and easterly winds blow offshore.
“Use the marked insteekzone at De Kwinte, Koning Ridderdijk 100, and buy a day membership that includes the required insurance. Wear the club talis on your harness. Parking near the club is paid. Keep a safe distance from the groynes and from the guarded bathing zones, which need a buffer. The club has its own lifeguard service. Wingers and windsurfers who want flat water can use the Spaarbekken in Nieuwpoort.”
