About this spot
Schulensmeer is a lake of roughly 90 hectares between Lummen and Herk-de-Stad, with the Watersportcentrum Schulensmeer at Demerstraat 60 as the base for windsurfers and wingers. The water is flat and the banks are low, so the wind arrives fairly clean from the southwest through northwest. The lake is also used for sailing, rowing and SUP. Blue-green algae closed the lake for watersports for long stretches in the summers of 2024 and 2025.

“Buy a day card at the watersport centre before you rig; the day card covers access with your own gear. Check schulensmeer.be for a current recreation ban before you drive out, because algae closures are announced there. Parking is at the centre, a short walk from the water. The centre rents windsurf boards and SUPs and has a cafe.”
