Oostduinkerke, Noordzee, Belgium
Oostduinkerke, part of Koksijde, has one of the widest beaches on the Belgian coast. Kiters, wingers and windsurfers launch from the marked zone at Surfclub Windekind, a beach club with a bar and parking right beside it. At low tide the walk to the water is long, and the North Sea brings chop and small waves. Winds from SW through W and NW to N and NE are usable here.
“Kiting is only allowed from a beach club zone. At Windekind, Zuidenwindhelling 1, take a day membership with insurance and wear the talis. A second kite zone, marked with blue signs, is at the sand yacht club SYCOD on the Alfred Devoslaan. The current runs towards the Netherlands from two hours after low water and towards France from two hours after high water, so start against it. In July and August stay out of the swim zone marked with yellow buoys.”
