De Haan is a quiet resort between Bredene and Wenduine, known for its belle epoque villas. Kiters and windsurfers launch from the marked zone at Watersportclub De Windhaan, a beach club below the dunes with around 600 members. The North Sea gives chop and small waves, with groynes along the beach. Usable winds run from SW through W and NW to N and NE, while offshore winds are unsafe.
“Park free along the Duinenpad, walk about 30 metres past the end of the paved path and go down the dune to the club. Buy a day membership with insurance and wear the talis. In summer kite flying is banned in guarded bathing zones from 10:00 to 19:00. The clubhouse burned in June 2026 and a temporary unit now serves food and drinks, so check with the club before you travel.”
