Bredene, Noordzee, Belgium
Bredene sits just east of Oostende, and its beach is backed by dunes instead of a seawall. Kiters launch from the marked zone at Twins Club on the Driftweg, a beach club with a clubhouse bar and its own wind station. SW winds blow cross shore and NE also works well. In strong wind the spot can produce large, clean waves, so it suits experienced kiters and windsurfers best.
“Park free along the Koninklijke Baan or in the paid car park, then walk over the dunes to Twins Club at Driftweg 69. The tram stop Bredene Aan Zee is about 12 minutes on foot. A day membership with insurance is required and you wear the club talis on your harness. Watch out for the groynes. Out of season the club is open at weekends only, so check before you go.”
