Traunsee in the Salzkammergut is driven by the Nebelwind — a jet-effect wind flowing N to S that can reach 6 Bft. Wingfoil and windsurf can launch anywhere along the shore, but kiting is restricted to the southern end near Rindbach and Ebensee, where the Nebelwind exits downwind.

Local tips
Kite only at Rindbach/Ebensee in the south — the downwind run with the Nebelwind is the dedicated kite zone. Windsurf and wing can use the Gmunden Strandbad on the north shore. Wind is strongest in autumn and spring.
