Achensee is a deep, narrow lake in the Tyrolean Alps north of Innsbruck. A strong thermal north wind builds reliably each afternoon from around 14:00, creating consistent conditions for wingfoil and windsurf. The lake sits at altitude with steep mountain walls on both sides, producing a clean channelled breeze.

Local tips
