Wingfoil · Duotone Wing Academy
After a good bottom turn brings you to the top of the wave, the top turn snaps the board around at the lip and redirects you back down the face. The cutback is a slower, rounder version that redirects toward the breaking section when you've ridden too far ahead of the power zone. Both are essential for surfing waves effectively on foil.
Approach the top with good speed from your bottom turn — don't decelerate on the way up
The turn is initiated with your front foot and toeside edge at the lip — commit to the turn completely
Keep the wing low and out of the way during the turn — you're surfing here, not wing-riding
Look at the section of wave you want to hit next as you exit the turn — set up for the next move immediately
